About us...
The Harrison STEM Program offers project-based learning that provides engaging, authentic lessons built around STEM careers that are already in high demand and projected to grow in numbers, earning potential, and need over the next several years. Our cross-curricular projects provide opportunities for students to deepen understanding and apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios and learning environments that allow students to be active and engaged in a rigorous course of study in science and math. By connecting the disciplines of science, math, and language arts, students experience a learning environment that is relevant for the century in which they live. Students follow a student-centered curriculum driven by problem-solving, discovery, and exploratory learning. The program of study culminates with a capstone project such as an internship or independent research study.
The Harrison STEM program emphasizes a focused course of study in life science through the Project Lead the Way Biomedical Sciences Curriculum. Harrison STEM students complete STEM specific science, math, and foundations courses in conjunction with honors and AP level courses outside of the STEM program sequence.
The unique aspect of the Harrison STEM program lies in the potential for our students to earn post-secondary credits towards their general course of study and professional certifications with successful completion of program requirements. The Harrison STEM program makes one guarantee: we will challenge students to go beyond their wildest dreams of achievement.

About our motto
#Fail For Success
At Harrison we want our STEM students to learn through their experience, to create with imagination, to achieve through trial and error. We adopted the motto "Fail For Success" because we want our students to understand that failure is not defeat and success can be measured by determination. Perfection is not the expectation, but preparedness and practice are because they improve performance.
Thomas Edison's teachers said he was "too stupid to learn anything." He was fired from his first two jobs for being "non-productive." As an inventor, Edison made 1,000 unsuccessful attempts at inventing the light bulb. When a reporter asked, "How did it feel to fail 1,000 times?" Edison replied, "I didn’t fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps."
"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times I've been trusted to take the game winning shot ... and missed.
I've failed over and over and over again in my life. That is why I succeed."
